SEPTEMBER 2004
THE GIG GUIDE
Recently updated with new tour dates throughout the Autumn. We have also set
up a new home page for you all to enjoy. Expect further dates soon. For
those truly dedicated fans who want a monthly email on where we might be playing
just in case we slot in a couple of low key ' unofficial ' gigs which may just
happen - contact info@cold-flame.co.uk and we will see what we can do. Related
to this are the negotiations that have been ongoing for some time regarding
a Tull Convention in the UK like we used to have in the 1990's. As A New
Day magazine has rightly reported, discussions have included ourselves alongside
The Dayglos, Dee Palmer as well as possibly Seismic Ring. Still waiting for
a decent promoter to oversee the event however so we will just have to wait
and see but talk continues.
URIAH HEEP
In October 2004 rock legends Uriah Heep, fresh from support slots with Jethro
Tull in Austria, return to the UK for a major tour where they will be joined
by special guests Mannfred Mann's Earthband and......erm ... Cold Flame.
In fact Cold Flame support the Heep at just one show - The Academy in Manchester
on Sunday October 31st. Tickets are now available see gig guide for further
details as well as the Uriah Heep website which you can find on our links page.
A NEW DAY RECORDS
We are very pleased to announce that Cold Flame have just been signed
up by A New Day Records. The national independant record company
which specialises in contemporary rock, blues and folk music has an impressive
client base which includes Martin Barre, Mick Abrahams,Martin Allcock,Clive
Bunker,Steve Howe, Nine below Zero,Jackie Lynton,Vicky Clayton,The Mechanics....
to name but a few living legends . We are certainly in the company of great
musicians and songwriters. Under the distribution deal our studio effort
from 2003, The Seven Seas, will be the first Cold Flame album to be distributed
nationally under the New Day Records banner. Meantime check out the record company
website which you will find on our links page. More details very soon.
NEW RELEASES
Our latest studio offering 'Sports in Perfect Harmony' featuring 'new boy' Ben
has proved to be a great success particularly in the local community where the
response has been tremendous presenting as it did an opportunity for Patrick
to be interviewed on High Peak Radio recently. Meantime a double live album
taken from recordings made during the summer of 2003 is almost completed though
no release date is planned as yet. There has been some interest in the remastering
of Patrick's solo albums - ' Tinker Tailor Worker Wailer ' originally recorded
in 1991 and 'The Sands of Time ' from 1995. Patrick is now hoping to go into
the studio this autumn with a view to remastering and repackaging both albums
with bonus previously unreleased material. Again no firm release dates as yet.
Stay tuned.
MESSAGE BOARD AND SHOP
Hats off to the Northernbands team especially Wal and Charl for their splendid
efforts over the last couple of months in sorting out a number of problems that
affected the smooth running of the message board and shop sections. Things are
now working well however so do check out these useful parts of the band website.
As both the board and shop are now being used more often by your good selves,
this is a clear indication that Northernbands must be getting it right. Please
remember to contact Northernbands direct if you have any queries regarding either
the Shop or the Board or you can contact the band direct at info@cold-flame.co.uk
for general enquiries.
THE MEDIA
The band is now being mentioned one way or another, more and more on the radio
and in the music press. All publicity helps and we are particulaly grateful
to Dave Shepherd at Bradford Radio, High Peak Radio and A New Day Magazine.
Should anyone out there come across press concert reviews please could you email
them to the band so that we can include new stuff on our Press page which
is starting to become out of date. As a thank you, the band in return
will update their individual diary entries within the next few weeks. Fingers
crossed.
JETHRO TULL
Finally the word from the Headmaster is that Tull are scheduled to record a
new studio album next Easter for release in August / September 2005. Just thought
you might like to know that IA mentioned the plan briefly
during a very recent interview.
Cold Flame - late Aug.
When bass players get together what do you expect. Patrick and Peggy strut their stuff for the camera.
